Our Team

Chris Silverthorn, MBA

President/CEO

As founder and President of Provida Financial Corp., Chris focuses on deal origination, deal underwriting and operations within the company.

Previously he was with the Bank of Montreal in the Commercial Lending Group and prior to that Vice President, Investor Relations with Canadian Coyote Energy Trust.

His skills include credit analysis, budgeting, financial modeling, forecasting and data analysis. Chris began his financial services career with Olympia Trust Company (OLY:V) where he held the position of Western Canadian Marketing Manager.

Chris earned his MBA from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business.


Stuart McPhail, MBA

Vice President Sales

As Vice President of Sales, Stuart focuses on growing our customer base by interfacing with banking professionals, business advisors and accountants. 

Previously, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a private capital group in the hospitality industry and a partner in a Western Canadian private apartment building REIT. Stuart also has extensive experience, both locally and internationally, in Oil and Gas, where he worked for GE, Rockwell, Invensys and a local engineering firm.

He earned an MBA and BSc. Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary.

Mathias Stoecker, CFP Vice President Business Development and Credit

As Vice President of Business Development and Credit based out of Vancouver, B.C., Mathias focuses on growing Provida's footprint in the Lower Mainland and credit structuring.

Previously, he was the District Manager in Vancouver at Roynat Capital, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bank of Nova Scotia, overseeing PP&E and M&A financing. He started his lending career at Canadian Western Bank, and worked in Wealth Management as an Associate at RBC Dominion Securities during his full-time post-secondary studies.

Mathias earned a Bachelor of Business Administration while receiving the Frank Giustra Scholarship four times. He is a Certified Financial Planner and has completed the Canadian Securities Course.

 

Salim Jamal, CFA, CAIA

Chief Operating Officer

As COO of Provida Financial Corp., Salim focuses on corporate administration, deal due diligence and operations.

Salim is a finance professional with experience in business, financial analysis and client engagement roles and has previously held roles as Vice President at a Calgary-based financial advisory firm, Senior Financial Analyst at a private oil and gas company and Vice President of Energy Research at an oil and gas equity research firm.

Salim holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance (with Distinction) from the University of Calgary, is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder, Chartered Alternate Investment Analyst (CAIA) Charterholder, has completed the Canadian Securities Course (Honors) and Energy Markets Risk Management Course.

Rahim Lallani, BBA

Controller

As Controller of Provida Financial Corp., Raheem analyzes financial data and financial reporting.

Raheem has over 20 years of experience in accounting for small and medium-sized businesses in various industries, including oil & gas, real estate, retail, and agriculture.

Raheem earned his Bachelor of Administration Degree in Accounting at Mount Royal University.

 

Alejandro Soto Cordova  BComm - Senior Credit Administrator

As Credit Administrator at Provida Financial Corporation, Alejandro focuses on loan administration, credit monitoring, and operational support. He works closely with Provida’s team and clients across a variety of industries to ensure efficient management of financing facilities and day-to-day credit operations.

Alejandro earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business, where he completed a broad range of courses spanning finance, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
